here is what we'll have finished by July's end. We have been going every day after work and all day Fri- Sundays. By the end of August we may have every major post and beam done - and focus all energy on rafters, joists, and the rest of the knee braces - hopefully be able to raise it this winter:

We have a ways to go yet...Looks like we'll be braving the winter too. Its pretty crazy how long this takes. But this is what is all about - when every possible combination of profanity has been triumphantly declared on these great plains - it'll be worth it. Now that the possibility of completing before summers end is simply not gonna happen, its been much easier to have fun. We have made some additions to the site to spice things up. One of the best purchases to date has been a little $50 Weber portable grill. Get that fired up and a cooler of cold beer and just take the day as it comes has been really nice. Chris unveiled a shelter to us this weekend - finally, we can get out of the sun! I had picked up a canopy earlier in the summer - I forgot to take pictures, but its in a pile of mangled and twisted tubing and its tarp is downstairs on the pool table covered in knee brace shavings. Here is our on site royalty beckoning the site fool to amuse him under the fancy shelter:

For comparison of Timberframing vs stick drag racing, we have been blessed (cursed) to watch our neighbors house go up - they started the same week we did. This is being built by a husband wife team too. I sometimes wonder if Chris has jumped ship and been working over there the days he leaves us for dead.

Leah and Chris marching on...

I had the local conservation office plant ~ 200 trees and shrubs, I'll be doing this again next year on the west end. This year has been the perfect year...lots of rain at the right times. The shelterbelt is really taking off - I'm glad we got a head start on it. Next year, the Silver Maples should be as tall as I am. Seen here is a row of Oak:

Horns!!

Up next....vacation!!
